Outlier interviewed by Array.vc

I was lucky to be interviewed by Shruti Shah from Array.vc about data, analytics and startups including Flurry and Outlier.

Some important take aways:

• Machine learning isn’t magic, it’s just statistics. To produce real value you need to think about what customers need and how best to deliver it. Sometimes ML is the best solution and sometimes it is not.
• Startups are hard, even successful companies have dark days. The real question is whether you believe in what you are doing enough to overcome those difficult times.
• Data shouldn’t be a burden, it should empower you to be better at what you do. If it doesn’t, something needs to change.
